Durango Cowboy Gathering
Location: Downtown Durango (VFW, Strater Hotel, Wildhorse Saloon, Four Leaves Winery, and other venues)
The Durango Cowboy Gathering brings cowboy poets and western musicians from across the region to Durango each late September or early October, with performances at venues around downtown including the VFW, the Strater Hotel, Wildhorse Saloon, and Four Leaves Winery. A dedicated "Cowboy Poetry Train," run by the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, adds to the draw.
The event's signature moment is Colorado's largest motorless parade, held downtown on Saturday morning after a 7:30 a.m. chuckwagon breakfast. Falling in the shoulder season between summer and ski season, the Gathering is an important multi-night booking driver for DAHLA members — visitors typically arrive Wednesday or Thursday and stay through the weekend.
